This just started - when I print? About every 5th line looks like italics, the top half of the line is a hair of from the bottom half. Tried all the maintenance options that are in the printer, head alignment, nozzel clean, etc. Any one got any ideas?

Hi LoboSolitario,
Based on your description of the issue, it would appear as though the encoder/timing strip in your PIXMA MX490 is dirty or smudged and would need to be cleaned. To clean the encoder/timing strip, please follow the steps outlined in the following Knowledgebase Article available from Canon's web site:
https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART164873
After cleaning, please attempt to print again.

The suggested solution to my problem of alignment of printed lines worked like a charm! Altho how something that far back inside the machine could get dirty is a mystery to me! 🙂 Thanks for the help!
