Pixma MG3620 won't print after changing ink

Krismj11

I just changed both color and BW cartridges and now I am getting an error code when I try to print (1401) that the printer does not recognize the ink.  The CL/BK and warning indicators are all flashing orange.  I have tried to turn off and on- reinstall ink to reset and still not working.  Seeking suggestions on how to resolve!  HELP!  Thanks.

Greetings,

The error indicates the FINE cartridge is not being properly detected.  Please be sure you have installed the cartridge in the correct slot.

Not much else you can do besides removing / reseating the cartridge and power cycling the device.

Thank you for the suggestion! I do have the cartridges in the correct spots and have taken in/out several times to reboot printer. I can't scan either.  I have seen suggestions on other models where this issue arises when ink is changed before the low ink warning appears, requiring a reset by holding down stop button but this did not work on my model.  I am not sure if there is a way to do a reset to clear the warnings specific to this model?

Hi Krismj11,

Because the error persists, your PIXMA MG3620 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002.  They're available weekdays and Saturdays after 9 AM ET (6 AM PT). Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Hi,

I came across this thread while looking for answers for the exact same problem. I also have tried everything that Krismj11 mentions in the original post and replies. My ink is an exact replacement from Canon.

Am I meant to understand there is no solution available except for buying a new printer?
