I opened up my brand new printer today and was following the manual instructions on how to set it up. I got to the part in which you load the ink cartridges. I got all of the colors inserted in the spots they belong in. I even got them to light up red which is a good thing. Once I closed the lid of my printer, nothing really happened until 5 minutes later, although the manual said it would take 3 minutes and that the power light would stop blinking.
Eager to find out what was wrong, I powered it off 30 minutes later, still blinking albeit. I turned it back on and it was still stuck in its loop of trying to setup but it just keeps blinking. I unplugged it to do a power cycle and that didn’t do anything either. At this point no other buttons work and it’s just a big paperweight on my desk.
if anyone else experiences this please help as I am confused. I want to assume the printer is not detecting the closed lid but I can’t even test that. There really isn’t any pattern to the blinking either, just infinite blinking at what seems 1sec intervals.

If it is brand new, it has a warranty. Contact Canon Support.
I had an iX 6820, given to me when the original owner no longer wanted it. I used it for a few years until one day it started with the continuous-flashing red light thing. All info I could find on it led to the conclusion that it was dead.
