PIXMA iX6820 No USB jack included

I just purchased a Pixma Ix6820 from Amazon, the Canon storefront on Amazon.

The printer came yesterday, amd does NOT have a UBS jack in the back. It has a jack that I have never seen before,a large square jack where the USB should be. After 2 frustrating hours, it would not wirelessly connect to my tablet, or phones

I checked the serial number on Canon US, and was told the serial number is not supported in the US market.

Has anyone else experienced or received a printer without a USB, and which seems to be for a different market than which they live?

That is a printer USB connection. Look for a printer cable on Amazon.

I guess I was caught off guard, because it came wirh a standard USB USC cord? And it also refuses to connect to any device wirelessly

It also possibly be an Ethernet port. Didn’t a startup sheet come with the printer?

It has an ethernet port, but no USB.

I found a USB 2.0 locally, and a USBa to USBc adapter for the end. Have run through the entire setup again, and despite now being hardwired,  my tablets and phone will not recognize the printer. Im guessing this is a dud or a printer that is SO old, the technology isn't compatible

I went through the entire setup, and unfortunately the site wont even let me register it because it tells me the serial number is not supported or for resale in America.

Greetings,

It sounds like you purchased a grey market product from a marketplace seller on Amazon that is not a Canon Authorized Dealer. While Amazon itself is an authorized dealer (if it says ships from and sold by Amazon) , its marketplace is not.

Canon does not maintain or control a storefront on Amazon.  Amazon creates these "storefronts" and allows people to sell their products.  Unfortunately some of these sellers are engaged in dishonest business practices.  Products intended for sale in other parts of the world may not have support or warranty in the US.  As you have found, the product you purchased cannot be registered in the US.

The printer is not sold with a USB cable by  Canon since some need a USB type A connection and others might need a USB type C.

You have a few choices.  Return the item as grey market and buy directly from Canon or an authorized dealer.  If you need a list of dealers, see this.

You can also keep the printer and hope you don't need support or warranty.  If you purchase from Canon or an authorized dealer, you won't have these issues.  Canon wants you to have a positive  experience,  the seller you purchased from just wants your money.  You'll have to decide what's best for you.
