PIXMA TS6420a: Unable to register product

I purchased a Canon PIXMA TS6420a from Best Buy (in-store) in Sterling, VA, USA on March 14, 2025. 

After setting up the product, I am unable to register it. I am getting the message:

The serial number you have entered is invalid for one or more of the following reasons:

1) The serial number does not match the product you have selected (FCC ID which starts with “AZD” is often mistaken for serial number.)

2) The serial number entered indicates this product was not intended for sale in the United States and is ineligible for registration and support in the U.S.

Please verify your product model and serial number to ensure they were entered correctly.

However, it's the only serial number available on the product box, on the back of the printer and within the printer settings on the printer screen interface. This makes absolutely no sense.

Canon team - please help me resolve this asap.

Hi there, 

Your screenshot shows you chose the PIXMA TS6420, please try again but select the TS6420a from the drop down! I'm removing your screenshot to mask your serial number!
