PIXMA TS6120 Problem -can't print crosswords

jac1916

Using Windows 11 and until a few days ago I was able to print crossword puzzles from newspapers.  Then, all of  a sudden, I can't print crosswords.  I replaced all print cartridges with genuine Canon cartridges, ran the clean print heads utility, including the deep clean, and still cannot print puzzles.  Text prints well.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi there!

Thanks for posting to the Canon Community!

Can you please go into a bit more detail about the print issue with your PIXMA TS6120? When you say you can't print do you mean it comes out blank, blurry, etc... ? As much detail as you can provide will help the community better help you.

Thanks so much!

When I try to print a crossword puzzle (as I had done on an almost daily basis) the printer prints out a blank sheet.  To my surprise, I can still print out Sudoku puzzles.  I can print text.

Hello jac1916,

To help get your crosswords printing again, it’s important to distinguish between the two different "connections" Alexa uses. Depending on the command you use, Alexa needs to talk to either your Amazon account or your Canon account.

1. Printing via Amazon (Native Alexa Printing)

  • What it prints: Standard crosswords (e.g., "Alexa, print today's crossword").
  • The Requirement: Your printer must be "Discovered" by your Amazon Alexa account.
  • The Fix: If this has stopped working, it usually means Alexa has "lost track" of the printer on your Wi-Fi.
    • Say: "Alexa, discover my printer."
    • If that fails, go to the Alexa App > Devices > Plus (+) > Add Device > Printer to re-link it directly to your Amazon account.

2. Printing via the Canon Skill (Canon Cloud Printing)

  • What it prints: Canon-specific content like Sudoku (Number Place) or coloring pages (e.g., "Alexa, ask Canon Printer to print a puzzle").
  • The Requirement: This requires your Canon ID to be linked to the Canon Inkjet Printer skill within the Alexa app.
  • The Fix: This connection often "times out" for security.
    • In the Alexa App, go to Skills & Games, find the Canon Inkjet Printer skill.
    • Select Settings and then Link Account. Even if it looks linked, disabling and re-enabling the skill to sign in with your Canon ID again often clears the "communication error."

Summary Table for Troubleshooting:

Command Account Required Common Fix
"Alexa, print a crossword" Amazon Alexa Account "Alexa, discover my printer"
"Alexa, ask Canon to print Sudoku" Canon ID / IJ Cloud Re-link the Canon Skill in Alexa App

As a first step, I recommend telling Alexa to "discover my printer" and then trying to re-link the Canon skill in the Alexa app. This ensures both "handshakes" are active.

Let us know if the printer gives you a specific error code like "Cannot connect to server" when you try these!
