PIXMA TS3522: ink cartridges not being recognized error

I just put in new inkjets in my TS3522 printer. When I go to print, I get the 5 and 9 errors, meaning the printer doesn't recognize the inkjets. And then the paper goes through and comes out with no printing on it. I know that I installed the correct ink. What am I missing?

HI Marjorie2,

The E 5 9 error will occur when the paper size that has been selected on your printer does not match the paper size you have selected on your computer.

If you have letter sized paper selected on your computer, please make sure your printer is set to LTR.

On your PIXMA TS3522, the button to the left of OK is the Paper button.

Repeatedly press the Paper button until LTR appears on your printer's display.

And then press OK.
