We have an iMac and a Canon Pixma TR8520 inkjet, using WiFi. They worked well together until we upgraded the Mac OS to Ventura. The printer will take up to 2 hours to print one page. We downloaded and installed "Wi-Fi Connection Assistant Ver.1.10.0 (Mac)." hoping to help the Mac find the printer faster.
We also downloaded "Printer Firmware Updater (Mac) for TR8500 series Ver.1.0" but cannot install it without a USB cable between the Mac and the printer. However, the printer doesn't have the "normal" USB port; it's a square connector with the USB symbol on the case. Am I missing something? I just guessed that these were the downloads I need to restore the printer to its normal, fast function. Thank you!

Hi Patrick! Thank you for your suggestions. It seems the printer was not the problem. The problem continued after we followed the steps. The iMac kept searching for the printer, leading us to check the Wi-Fi settings. For some reason, the computer disconnected from the Wi-Fi. We reconnected and now everything is fine. We hope it stays this way! Perhaps others with the same problem will benefit from this post, even though the printer was not the issue.

Hi Alan-Editor,
First, please make sure that the signal strengh of your Wi-Fi connection is above 70%. To check this, please follow these steps:
1. Turn your PIXMA TR8520 on.
2. From the Home screen, please tap the Wi-Fi icon in the lower left corner of your TR8520's display.
3. If the password message appears, tap Yes.
Please scroll down the list to view the Signal strength.
If it is low, please turn your printer off. Once off, please unplug the power from your router. Wait 5 minutes and then reconnect the power to your router. When your Wi-Fi is back online, turn your TR8520 back on and check the signal strength again.
Next, please try reinstalling your PIXMA TR8520 on your Mac. To do this, please follow these steps:
1. Click on the Apple in the upper left corner.
2. Click on System Settings.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the left hand side and click on Printers & Scanners.
4. Click on the TR8500 on the right side.
5. In the new window, click on the Remove button.
6. Repeat until all TR8500's are removed.
Next, we will install:
1. Click on the Add Printer Scanner or Fax button.
2. In the Add Printer window, click on the Canon TR8500 that appears and click Add at the bottom.
Once your printer appears in the Printers window with a green dot and "Idle", please attempt to print.
