I have a pixma MP 490 when I hit copy I just get a straght line across the paper. If I scan and save to my computer it will print properly. Can this be fixed ???

Hi nmgene,
Please try a test scan from your computer:
1. Click on Start, All Programs, Canon Utilities, MP Navigator EX and then MP Navigator EX to open that program.
2. Point to Scan/Import and click Photos/Documents (Platen).
3. Place the document or photo on the Platen, then select the type of item to be scanned next to Document Type.
4. Place a checkmark in the "Use the scanner driver" box.
5. Click the Open Scanner Driver button.
6. Click the Advanced mode tab.
7. Click Preview.
Is there a line in the preview?
