LisaRich

Ready to trash my MG3620!,

I have a Canon MG3620 purchased within the last two years that was working perfectly fine until I needed to change the ink cartridges. I don’t think I inserted them properly, and now they are stuck. Help!

Hi LisaRich,

Please try moving the print carriage to the replacement position manually and then try using force to remove the ink cartridges from your PIXMA MG3620.

If you are unable to, your PIXMA MG3620 would require service.  If your PIXMA MG3620 was purchased less than a year ago, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat to obtain your in warranty options. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

https://mycanon.usa.canon.com

Once logged in, click on your PIXMA MG3620 and then click on the Product Support button.  When that page loads, click on either the Phone Support button or the Chat Support button to access support.

If your PIXMA MG3620 is out of warranty, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Hi LisaRich.  I am not the least bit mechanically or technically inclined, but I fixed this problem which was a pain in the neck.  By mistake I placed the black cartridge in the color slot and the color cartridge in the black slot.  My printer lights started flashing 5 times over and over.  When I tried to print my computer screen told me that the printer didn't recognize the ink.  As I had used a cheaper brand and not Canon ink, at first I thought that was the problem, but that was not the case.  After jiggling it many times, I managed to get the black cartridge out (from the color slot).  That's when I realized I had inserted the cartridges in the wrong slots.  No matter what I did, I couldn't get the color cartridge out.  Finally, I got a flashlight and saw what was holding the cartridge in.  On top of the cartridges there are some small tabs.  At the rear of the slots that hold the cartridges, there are also some tabs.  When you insert the cartridges properly, both sets of tabs line up nicely, but if you place the cartridges in the wrong slot, those tabs will catch on each other and you won't be able to slide the cartridge out past the tab in the slot.  So this is how to fix this problem.  If you can, get someone else to hold the flashlight so that you can see the tabs and have the use of both of your hands.  Get a flat head screwdriver with a 1/4 inch blade.  Gently slide the flat blade of the screwdriver toward the rear of the cartridge near the tab in the slot and press down toward the rear of the cartridge so that it tips below the tab in the slot.  It may take more than one try, but once you tip the cartridge down so that it can fit below the slot's tab, you can grab the cartridge and pull it out.  I placed the cartridges in the correct slots and locked them in, then I turned the printer off and on again and the lights stopped flashing.  Fixing this problem was such a pain.  I will never again place the cartridges in the wrong position.  I hope this fixes your problem.
