My Pixma MG2522 finally died. I bought another and had SO MUCH TROUBLE installing it. So did a lot of others.
I uninstalled all Canon Printers, unplugged the USB cord, then rebooted my computer. I went back online to "Install Canon Pixma MG2522 Printer," plugged in the USB cord, and BOOM! My new printer is working.

Greetings,
USB devices - Often the cause for installation and detection failures is plugging the device in before installing the device drivers. You inadvertently resolved this by uninstalling and restating. The OS was subsequently able to identify the printer after tis.
