PIXMA G7020 Printing very slow

Hi.  I have a G7020 printer that prints, but when it does it is crazy slow.  It will print a line, wait a minute or so, and then print another line.   The print quality is fine; it just takes up to 10 minutes to print a single page.

I'm running this on 3 different computers that all have the same issue.  Two are running windows 11, one is running windows 10, and all are using WiFi.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, that didn't work.  I also did a print head clean and nozzle check, which printed quickly.

I saw a similar post in the community but with no resolution.   Any help is appreciated.

Yes, I need to be able to connect to the printer via WiFi because multiple devices print to it. As I mentioned, this behavior only started after I updated the firmware to the latest - 1.080. As others have pointed out, the slow printing is device/OS agnostic.

I found that connecting the printer via an ethernet cable to my router brought back the normal printing speed. To summarize what I have found:

  • Printer connected via WiFi router: SLOOOW printing no matter the source (MacOS, Windows, Android, IOS)
  • Laptop (MacOS) connected to printer via Wireless Direct: Normal printing
  • Printer connected via ethernet cable to WiFi router: Normal printing

I didn't try a USB cable though I would think it work print normally.
