PIXMA G620 - Left Print head (B, Gr, R) isn't printing at all - no ink in tubes

Hello. Full disclosure - this printer sat for a long time - months - with no ink in the black or grey ink tanks.

Recently I purchased new ink and refilled all the tanks, but when I printed a test pattern, there was nothing at all in top section for the GY, BK, R sections, but the C/M/Y all worked fine.I tried cleaning and deep cleaning, but nothing changed.

Looking inside the printer, I can see that the 3 of the tubes - that should have the BK, GY, and R inks in them are completely empty and clear. There is nothing but air in them. Using a syringe, I am able to pull ink through the tubes, but it kind of just sucks back. But once I did this pulling through I tried an ink flush which still didn't help.

Is there some kind of pump in there that could be broken? Is there maybe a bad clog I could manually clear? Where should I be looking? The tubes themselves aren't clogged - ink comes through. So what gives?

Thanks for any help

Greetings ,

Performing an ink flush from the maintenance menu is the recommended procedure for charging the ink tubes.  You may have one or more serious clogs.

I would suggest contacting Canon support. 1-800-652 -2666.

Thanks for the reply - would the fact that I am able to pull ink through the tubes with a syringe suggest that the clog is in the printer head itself? If the clog was at the tank or the tubes the syringe wouldn't work, right?

The printhead(s) seem likely since you can draw ink with a syringe.  Model of the printheads are CH-21L and CH-21R.  I'd get advice from Canon first though.
