My printer is defective and I can’t get ahold of tech support

I have been trying to get my canon inkjet to work since Christmas. The first process of setting it up (holding the internet button til the power light flashes) doesn’t work no matter how long or short of a time I hold the internet button. 
I tried calling support and I’m not able to until give a phone for my account which was never put in or required to put in when I made my account. Nor do I see an option to put in my phone number. I’ve never been so frustrated trying to set up something in my house. The instructions I was given were very confusing, to where I had to look up a YouTube video. I’m also not able to manually set up my printer “the old fashioned way” cause I have no cord to plus into my printer to operate on my computer. I’m beyond mad and upset with everything including the impossible help from canon customer support. It should not be this hard FIX IT
