My Pixma MX860 all in one printer will not print the black color portion of a print job.

If the print job from my computer such as an email or word document is all black type, the page comes out all blank.  However, if I use the copier function to copy a document, the black portions are printed just fine.  Printing a test page shows the black part also.  There is plenty of black ink in both cartridges.  Any ideas on what is happening or how to fix it?

Please try running through 2-3 print head cleanings through the "Maintenance" window on the printer itself.
