My MG5520 will not scan.

I have followed a past thread in an attempt to fix the scanner error 5,157,69 for my Canon MG5520. I can print just fine, but the scanner refuses to work.  It says it's offline.  I do have a LinkSys EA9220 wireless router, however, that should not matter as I am using the desktop that is also connected with a LAN cable.  What the heck is going on?  This is frustrating.
