My Canon MX 340 continues to require purchase of ink or cancel printing. Can't print. Help!

Canon continues to require purchase of ink cartridge or cancel printing.  I can't print even I've replaced printer with new cartridge.  Is it a scam that Canon use to force its customers to buy ink cartridge from them?

No, its not a scam.  Sounds like a malfunction. 

What operating system and error message(s) are you seeing?  What version of Canon software are you using?
