MX882 scanner

My older MX 882 scanner usually creates a dot on scanned images.  The dot which looks something like a small drop of water maybe 0.3 centimeters across is always in the same place on the image.  Is there a way to fix this problem?  Of course on small images I can move the object to be copied, but for larger images this work-around isn't available. Any ideas?
