MX870 Scan Utility Fails to Open/ Win10 Fax and Scan is assigned to Scanner

MX870, Win10 on Lenovo Pro Yoga 2  (really, really old lap top but I do automatic updates)   The scanner does work with Win 10 Fax and Scan but I want to scan with a Canon app (better functionality).

I used Control Panel - - Turn Windows Features on and off in order to turn off Win 10 Fax and Scan but it is still there.  

I have a shortcut to Canon IJ Network Scan Utility but apparently only the shortcut.  Is there a Canon app which will scan from my MX870 via wifi or shall I consider myself fortunate that I can do something with Windows 10 Fax and Scan?
