I have an MX 310 printer/scanner. All I want to use is the scanner.
I am using a Dell laptop running windows 8. I've downloaded to latest drivers and my laptop seems to recognize the scanner.
But when I hit the scan button it just beeps. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
I tried to scan from the laptop but I couldn't get that to work either.
Am I required to have working print cartridges in it?

Hi stukawife,
Please turn your PIXMA MX310 off. Wait 30 seconds and then turn your PIXMA MX310 back on.
What appears on the display of your PIXMA MX310?

it says SCAN MODE

Hi stukawife.
The MX310 will need to have each of a compatible color and black cartridge installed, in order for scanning to be performed. If you haven't yet done so, you will also need to install the Canon-produced drivers from the CD, or from the MX310 Drivers & Downloads page.

I do have the drivers, I guess I need to blow more money on print cartridges that I'll never use. Thanks. I think this answers it.
