I've had this printer/scanner for several years, and the scanner has always worked. Today it doesn't. I place the document on the platen and then select Scan, and finally select Color to start the scan. This has always worked. Today I'm getting the message on the display, "Set the PC to start scanning."
I have the scanner set to send the images to my computer, and it's always shown the name of my computer on the display. Today it just shows "Local USB" and cannot locate my computer. I tried checking the wireless network status, and that shows 100% with a strong signal.
I did a search in this forum and found posts that were similar, but not identical to my problem. In those posts, the people were getting that message (Set the PC to start scanning) right from the beginning. Mine has worked up until now.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

That program was indeed not running. It must have been in the past, since that's the way I've always scanned before.
That worked! Thanks so much for the response. I really appreciate your taking the time to respond.

Hi GlassHalfFull,
If the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX was not found, I recommend reinstalling the printer using the latest Windows 8.1 compatible drivers from the Canon USA website. Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MG6320. Once on the page, please follow these steps:
1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is Windows 8.1, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your version of the operating system.
2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click the MP drivers file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once the file is downloaded, please double-click on it to run it on your computer. Once installation is complete, the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX should now be installed.
Hope this helps!

AARRGGHHH!!! I installed the 8.1 drivers, and still get the message "Set the PC to start scanning." I did a search, an the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is installed, but I still can't scan.
BUT, even though the touch pad looked like it was pointing to my computer, I went through doing the settings again, and this time it worked. PHEW!!!
Thanks, Ramona, for all your help. I'm a die-hard Canon fan. One time I bought an HP printer and then took it back the next day and got a Canon instead. Thanks for making such consistently EXCELLENT products!

Hi GlassHalfFull!
In order to provide you with the proper steps, please let everyone know what version OS (Mac 10.X, Windows __ etc.) you are running on your machine. That way, the community will be able to assist you with a workflow appropriate for your computer/device.
Thanks!

Excellent thought! I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium.
I was finally able to scan this morning, but only when using the Canon Quick Menu on the desktop. Still doesn't work when I try to scan using the touch screen on the printer/scanner. The only thing different I've done recently is to install Kaspersky Pur 3.0 (anti-virus software), though it seems to me I have been able to scan since then. Printing is not a problem at all.

Hi GlassHalfFull,
The Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector EX will need to be running on your computer to scan using the operation panel of the printer. To launch the program, from the Start Menu on your computer, select All Programs, then Canon Utilities, then IJ Network Scanner Selector EX (folder), then IJ Network Scanner Selector EX (program). Once launched, the program will be displayed in the notification area of the taskbar as shown below.
Hope this helps!

Me, again! I just got a new computer with Windows 8.1 and am experiencing the issue with the Canon printer again. How do I launch the program on Windows 8.1? Ther'es no "All Programs" setting on the Start menu anymore.
Thanks!

Hi again, GlassHalfFull!
To launch the IJ Network Scanner Selector on Windows 8.1, from the main Start screen, click the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen. In the Search window that appears, select "Everywhere" from the drop down menu, then type the word "IJ Network Scanner" in the search field, then press the Enter key on your keyboard. Choose the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX in the window that opens and it should launch the program on your computer.
Hope this helps!
