Each time I replace ink on my TR8520, the ink levels change drastically. This included the ink that was replaced and also ink that wasn't replaced because it was not showing low. The screen captures shown below are before and after with the after being taken when printing a 4 page document without any color. It shows that all the color ink cartridges lowered considerably as well as the "BK" cartridge, which wasn't replaced because it was still a quarter full. The cartridges are expensive and I fee like I'm being ripped off. Not a good feeling obviously. What are you doing to your customers Canon?

Hi micabran2706,
Based on the testing that was performed, the page yield for each ink tank of your PIXMA TR8520 is as follows:
PGI-280 PGBK - 200 pages
CLI-281 BK - 1505 pages
CLI-281 C - 256 pages
CLI-281 M - 237 pages
CLI-281 Y - 257 pages
To view more information regarding page yield, please use the following link:
Items that would change the amount of pages that you can expect to print are, but not limited to, the following:
1. The number of head cleanings that your PIXMA TR8520 performs, both manual and automatic.
2. The number of prints and the type of printing that is being performed (4" x 6" photos, 8.5" x 11" photos, plain text, etc.). To verify how many pages are being printed, please keep a log of how many print jobs and what types are being printed, including any prints that are thrown away.
3. The driver settings in use with your PIXMA TR8520, such as Media type, Quality, Grayscale, etc.
4. How your PIXMA TR8520 is powered on and off (surge protector, power strip, etc.) may result in automatic cleanings being performed by your PIXMA TR8520. If you are not using the power button on the printer, the printer is reset each time.
5. Using third party inks may affect ink usage. As Canon does not produce these inks, we would be unable to determine or guarantee the usage of these cartridges.
Is your PIXMA TR8520 set to Letter size and Plain paper? To check this, please tap the gear icon at the bottom of your printer's display. In the menu that appears, tap Settings and then Device settings. Next, scroll down the list and tap Feed settings. Tap Register paper information and make sure that the rear tray or cassette (depends on which one you are using) is set to Letter and Plain paper. Also, before printing from your computer, when you click on File and Print, make sure that the print settings are set to Plain paper and Letter as well.
When the printer is set to Letter and Plain paper and the item you are printing is in black, the PGBK ink tank will be used.
If the paper type is set to something other than plain paper, the printer will combine the other inks to make that black color on your printed page.
