Did you mean:

Just set up my MX510 with wireless and it jams every time it tries to print

It took ages and I had to install the software three times, but I finally got my computer to communicate wirelessly to my new Canon Pixma MX510. The document goes to the printer, the paper is pulled into the printer, it comes about halfway back out without having printed anything and then I get a "Paper is jammed at the output slot" message. So far this printer has not successfully printed one page (except the pattern page when I was aligning it.)

Has anyone had this happen to them? Any suggestions?

I am ready to go to Fed Ex and pay to print this document because after all the time I spent on this I am fed up and don't want to troubleshoot anymore.

Hi Clemdane,

So we can better determine what may be causing the issue, please reply with the following information:

1.  How far away is your printer from your wireless access point?

2.  If you use a USB cable to connect the printer to your computer, do you still experience the paper output slot error?

3.  Are you able to make a photocopy directly from the printer successfully?

If this is a time-sensitive matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.

1. The printer is 15 feet from my wireless access point (laptop with wireless internet.)

2. I don't have a USB cable to test this with. I can buy one to test this, though.

3. No. I get the same error when I try to photocopy something from the printer. The paper comes halfway out with nothing printed on it, jams, and I get the error message "Error. Paper output slot. Paper is jammed."

I think it started when I first set up the printer and did the alignment. When the page printed out I thought it looked off, but I wasn't sure, so I said "ok" when it asked if the alignment was correct. I think it was incorrect. How do I redo the alignment? I tried to redo it non-manually and the paper jammed again while it was trying to print.

Hi Clemdane,

If you have already ensured that there are no paper jams or obstructions in the unit and that the unit is on a flat surface with nothing in front of it that would block the paper output slot of the printer and are still receiving the same error, the printer will require servicing.  Please Contact Us for your servicing options.

I will get the servicing, but it seems like a pretty shoddy product if it needs servicing before I've ever been able to use it once. I shouldn't have to pay to have it fixed before it has ever printed a single page!
