I just got thisfor myi home office to replace an older Canon MF printer that somehow lost its fax capability. I am trying to figure out a few things about the fax functions:
1. How can I keep the maching from answering the phone? For fax I use the maching for sending only--and not that often. And they are sent through my "voice" VOIP phone line. I have a separate fax number but not an actual fax phone line. The occasional faxes sent to me go through a service and appear in my email wherever I happen to be. I was able to keep the older Canon machine from answering the phone. But I can't figure out how to make this one follow suit.
2. How can I turn off the noise? On my old machine the fax telephony noises were so loud that I had to refrain from sending any faxes when the rest of the household was asleep. The settings for that had no effect. How can I get the new one to keep quiet--or at least keep the telephone noises VERY low?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
