How to fix password problem

After 30 minutes of frustration and finally checking here, I figured out how to put my password into my printer (MX490).  In the process of trying and failing the first time in the endeavor of putting it in, I put in some extra characters at the end.  How in the name of God do I delete these extra characters??  I am so close to actually having this printer working.

Hello.

To delete an extra character, move the cursor under the desired character and then press the Back button on the printer.  You can use the left or right arrow keys to move the cursor.
