How do I get the scan function from a Cannon Pixma MX922 to work with Linux Mint. The printer works

I have a Cannon Pixma MX922 hook up to my Dell Desk Top. The printer works fine but not the scan function.

How do I fet the scan funtion to work.

We do not have instructions or information regarding using the printer with Linux, as it was designed for use with Windows or Mac based operating systems.
