New PIXMA TS3722 getting "canceled the process because an error has occurred"

Hi, new guy here, new TS3722 printer getting "canceled the process because an error has occurred"

Hoping someone can help out, I'm definitely no printer whiz. Set it up right now, I somehow managed to print a detailed Network Configuration Page (actually three pages) including a diagnostic result of "there is no problem" so I'm assuming it's copacetic.
I tried to print out a document from the mobile app on my samsung galaxy phone and I keep getting "canceled the process because an error has occurred. 
I power cycled the printer and restarted the phone, no change. 
Any advice will be appreciated.

Are you using the Canon Print app on your mobile device?

Just checking, are you able to print from a computer? 

Does your mobile device have a VPN active?

Sorry, just got home - holiday traveling!

Yes, I've got the Canon Print app on my phone. When I first connected to my phone via wifi a "network results" three page doc printed out. I then tried to print out a doc from my drive and got that error msg. I restarted my phone, powered the printer down/back up again then retraced my steps and same results - network results doc printed out then when I tried to print something got that error.

I don't have a VPN.

shadowsports, I reread and noticed you'd asked if I could print from a computer, no. we have an old emachines windows 7 pc which is unable to interact with the printer.
