G6020 printing some black sometimes

houseofc

Nozzle check attached. Does not print pattern A at all, does print the sidebar in black.Cleani ng didn't help, plenty of ink.

Does not print black on printouts.

Previously, this happened, and after printing with photo settings a few times, the black came back. Printed normally for a couple of weeks.

This time the error happened after printing a black and white document with large all black shapes on most pages (normal paper and quality.) The prints gradually faded to nothing.

I know it can print black, and the sidebar of the nozzle check shows that it _is_ printing black even when it is on black-ink strike.

Hi,

The black that is printing is made up from the color cartridges. The Black ink cartridge that is used to print text, is not appearing on the print out and that is why the grid is missing.

I see you have performed the cleanings already but if you have not performed an ink flush, please do so using the steps HERE. Should the issue persists, the printer would require service.

If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.

Thanks! I did do the flush (after topping up all the inks)  and it worked. That's a really good black for not being black ink. It would be nice to have some explanation of what everything on the test page is testing.
