Any idea what might be causing this? the first print after a rest shows these blue serrated markings at top and the rest of the prints are usually okay.

Hello.
The issue may be related to the paper that is being used. The paper may not be porous enough to soak in the ink properly, which is transferring to the rollers. Make sure that the paper you are using is meant for use with inkjet printers. If the issue persists, try using a different type of paper to narrow down the cause of the issue.
