D1320 one-sided printing on mac

Johnxxx

I just bought a Canon D1320 printer, which is set to default two-sided printing on my iMac. I can't change it to one-sided, and I've looked all over for a way to do that, both on the printer and in my printing software (Word 2008.) The manual, quite frankly, is incomprehensible. Neither the toggle button nor the the menu settings (setting 2-sided to "off") have any effect. The illustrations in the manuals do not look anything like what I get from Word 2008. (I am using OSX6.8) Is it possible to do one-sided printing from this printer on a Mac?

Hi Johnxxx,

You can check and adjust the setting for 2-Sided Printing by looking for a "check box" or radio button for the feature in the [Print] dialog box, and make your adjustment accordingly.

If you are using an earlier version of the driver, the duplex setting can be found in the [Print] dialog box under the [Basic] drop-down. If [Print Style] is set to [2-sided Printing], you can make your adjustment for -sided printing utilizing the drop-down menu. The default setting for [Print Style] for some printers that support Two-Sided Printing is [2-sided Printing] (Refer to "change_default_Mac.pdf"  included with the driver download).

Once adjusting the setting for one-sided printing, proceed to perform a test print to confirm the setting has been successfully changed.

I've resolved it, I think. What I did was download an earlier driver from your website (earlier, I think, than the one on the Mac software disc included with the printer.) When I did that, I found a selection which allowed me to turn "two-sided printing" off. That would only work for one job, then it would revert to two-sided printing. However, I then found a setting in Word that said something like, "Use earlier settings." When I selected that setting, along with turning off two-sided printing available with the new driver, I was able to get consistent one-sided printing.

I found another way (hopefully). In MS Word, go to the print dialog box. In the third drop down box from the top (mine says "copies & pages") select "Basic". Under "settings", select "print style: one-sided printing". Then, Print. Now, go back to the Print dialog box and select "Presets". Then name your preset by selecting "save current settings as Preset. . . " I named mine "One-Sided Printing." Apply it to "this printer only. That seems to work.

I can toggle on/off one/two sided printer in some programs but not others. It doesn't work with Adobe Reader 9.1.0.  I am running a MB Pro with Mavericks. The toggle works just fine in Quickbooks.  Suggestions? Trying to print W-2s for my staff.
