Canon Pixma MX 432. The printer is also being used for receiving faxes on the same telephone line that all incoming and outgoing calls are made. The telephone that is being used is also the answering machine. EXAMPLE) An unanswered incoming call will be picked up by the answering machine after four rings. Calling party will hear beginning of recorded greeting then is interupted with sound of the fax machine coming off hook and trying interact with the call. What settings do I need to change on the printer to avoid this problem? Thanks for your time.

Hi pdggdp8,

You can set the incoming ring count of the fax machine to a higher number of rings than the answering machine to prevent it from interfering with your answering machine message.  To do this, please follow the steps located here.

Hope this helps!
