Canon Pixma TR8620A-Bricked during recent firmware update

PhilC
Apprentice

Hello-When I recently accessed my Canon Pixma TR8620a (connected wirelessly to my Mac (OS 26.01), the front display screen on the printer indicated a firmware update was available and did I want to update the firmware? I accepted the invitation and the firmware update process started. Shortly thereafter, a beep tone came from the printer, and the display showed a "Support Code 6800". Per the display instructions, I turned off the printer, turned it back on again, and received the same message. I reviewed all areas of the printer and saw no obstructions (paper or shreds). I then removed the power cable from the back of the printer and allowed 10 minutes to pass. I then re-powered on the printer and received the same error message. I then connected the printer to a Windows 11 PC via USB connection (PC) to plug in back of printer. Again, no luck. Same error message. The printer had been working well with no issues right up till the time when the Canon suggested firmware update failed.  I could use some help, please..
