How to get the scanner to work on Linux Mint Mate 19.1 64bit. I installed the debian printer driver and the printer works. I installed scanner driver: scangearmp2-3.70-1-deb.tar.gz downloaded from Canon website. Neither Simple Scan nor Scan2pdf detects the scanner. I followed the guidance from this website to install the drivers: https://tutorialforlinux.com/2018/07/10/how-to-install-canon-scanner-on-linux-mint-19-tara/
Installation was successful. I also followed their advice for installing missing packages (even though I had no message about missing packages). I have posted this on the Linux forum with no solution yet. The scanner works on my wife's IMAC so I think it's not a defective scanner.
