Canon PIXMA MG6620 prints fine but does not *scan* to my Macbook.

I have the PIXMA MG6620 and have always used it to both print and scan to a MacBook. The IJ Scan utility was always dead simple to set up. Now I have a new MacBook and IJ Scan Utility is not supported. I have been all over the help discussions and everything either covers how to print (I can still print to this new Mac) or tells me to go find and download the drivers to IJ Scan Utility - which of course don't exist for the newer Mac OS. Something finally said to use Image Capture on my mac - I found that, opened it, removed and re-added the PIXMA MG6620...and nothing changed. I can still print but not scan. Same with using Preview.

The printer works. The scanner does not. They both used to work on a Macbook.

  • Image Capture did not solve this issue.
  • Preview did not solve this issue.

Can I just never scan to a macbook from my Canon PIXMA ever again?

Hello!

Please note that the PIXMA MG6620 was retired in 2020. As a result, all official Canon support has ceased, and no new software or drivers will be developed for that unit. This could mean that your printer may not be fully compatible with macOS 15 when the final updated IJ Scan Utility is released.

To explore Canon's latest technologies, we recommend contacting our Canon Upgrade Program Specialists at 1-866-443-8002, available Monday through Friday.

We hope you have a great day!

I just thought of this, you can try the Canon PRINT app. It may actually be a super-easy workaround because of the magic of Apple.
