Can not communicate with scanner

I keep getting this error: Can not communicate with scanner. When I try to scan, this pops up. There are codes 5, 156,69. I checked the cable, made sure its connected. Everythings as it should be. I can scan through the Properties but It won't scan through the Canon Quick menu.  I have a MG 2520 scanner.  Any suggestions welcomed.  Thank you.

The 5,156,69 error indicates that security software on your computer is blocking the Canon software from communicating with the scanner.  Please temporarily disable the security software and attempt to scan again.  If you are able to scan with the security software disabled, please contact that security software's technical support for assistance allowing the Canon software access through the software.
