Cable length for scanner

On one computer the Canon mg2555s doesn't scan with usb cables longer than 5 meter.

But on another computer it scans even with 10 meter usb cables!
In both cases the same cables were used.

What could be the reason of all this. Is it the chipset of the computer or something?

The scanner is giving code 2,156,50, that means no usb cable.
The computer sometimes works with 150 dpi but the scanning resolution I am interested in is 600 dpi, that results in a photo of 25 mb. I think 25 mb is not too much to handle for any usb 2.0.
Why doesn't that computer scan on 600 dpi while the other one works?

The powersupply of the not scanning computer is a bit old and the powersupply of the scanning computer is new and very expensive.
Could it be that the power has to do with all this?
Could it be that an USB repeater cable is the solution?
