USING EOS REMOTE APP on 70D

Greetings everyone. Wanted to see if anyone else having a 70D and using the EOS remote App is having any difficulty also. I had used this older app - EOS REMOTE - with the 70D with NO problems, until canon released the canon connect app. After that release was available, i discovered the EOS REMOTE app now doesn't work; that is, it will never connect any longer with the app, though in the past it connected and with no problems!! i tried DLing the newer CAMERA CONNECT and it never has connected my with my SSG S5 running on android v5. now both apps are useless!!!
has anyone had these problems, and if so:
1. did you resolve the problem?
2. were you ever able to get the stupid EOS REMOTE app or CAMERA CONNECT to function (again/first time ever)?

I think you need to call Canon.

thanks for your suggestion. NO, do not think I am member of CPS. I do know the east coast "repair facility" techs are very rude and insulting though, and lie about the work they "perform". I have been very DISsatisfied with work, replies, and "solutions" I have received from canon and their tech "repair" people in the past. Many of the replies from those techs have been very rude
