Rebel T5i help with EOS Utility on Mac Tahoe not recognizing Camera

Lawrence63

I have a T5I and am trying to utilize the EOS Utility pack 3 but it does not recognize my camera. Is there a solution or is it too old.

If it is too old is there a different software that works better like Capture One?

what Operating System and version are you using?  Apple macOS has its own unique set of issues. The Canon Product Support page for the T5i seems to be missing.

First and foremost, Capture One is used to process and edit images.  The Canon EOS Utility does not do any of that.  Use the free Canon app, DPP4, Digital Photo Professional 4, to process and edit images.

The EOS Utility is used to download images from the camera.   It can also be used to upload small amounts data to the camera, like current date and time. This data is stored in the camera, not the memory card.

You can use a card reader to work around issues that you have with the  EOS Utility 3.

I use Tahoe OS. I just want to tether the camera to the lap top when I am shooting and can't seem to make it happen. I loaded an older version of the EOSU and that seemed to help It recognizes the camera but is trying to connect by wifi not cord. cord option not listed.

The camera allows one app to communicate with it at a time.  You must shut down all that communicate with the camera, except for the one app you wish to use.

This stipulation is one part of why running Canon apps tricky. There are other apps that can and will discover the camera before you can connect to it using EOSU 3.

Doubk check the communication settings in the camera.  Hopefully, a Darth Vader looking guy shows up.  He can explain macOS much better than I can. He can name the apps that you would need to check.
