Rebel T3i Utilities Link Help Needed (WebCam Application)

Hey all HYN -

I am trying to see if I can use my T3i as a windows webcam and found this old thread where the first link seems to work fine - I've downloaded that.

But the second recommended link has 22 different files to download. I have no idea which one to download.

Does anyone know? TY so much!

I do not believe that the T3i was ever officially supported by the original WebCam Utility.  However, many unsupported devices seemed able to work.  These older cameras had a couple things in common.  They could record video.  And they we’re compatible with the EOS Utility in Remote Shooting Mode.

I suggest that you try to download a copy of the app for a newer camera and see if that works.

UPDATE:

Thanks Waddizzle - so a little bit of progress.

I downloaded the webcam utility for the Rebel T6i (btw I checked all the rebel models - same file for all) and in theory... the computer sees the utility... but there's no image from the camera itself.

Switching to a janky windows webcam - I've got an image.

Swap USB ports, image follows good camera. Nothing from the T3i.

Turned off and on. Switched to movie and all other modes, nada.

And yes - the camera takes pictures and records vid just fine.

Anyone experience this or know what to do next? not the end of the world bc I have a nicer web cam on the way... but would be so sick to use this thing... the depth of field gives me the willies...

TY!

Are you able to control the camera remotely, though, using the EOS Utility?  If so, there’s a chance that the Webcam can, too.

Hey - sorry for the new-guy-syndrome - but do you mean open the desktop ap - find the camera - and do whatever? if so, not sure, but will try.

If the utility allows me to control the camera... but webcam selection as "utility" isn't working.... then?

TY so much for your time -
