Is there a way to prevent 2 extra clicks when connecting the PowerShot PX to the iPhone app?

When connecting the PowerShot PX to the iPhone iOS app I have to dismiss several screens.

  1. Join (to connect to the PX WiFi)
  2. Use Mobile data (or Keep trying Wifi)

Does anyone know a way to prevent this?

Kind regards,

While there isn't a direct setting within the Canon Connect App to completely bypass these prompts, you can drastically minimize them by adjusting a few iOS network settings. The "Join" prompt is a security guardrail built into iOS that requires manual user confirmation whenever a third-party app tries to switch your phone over to a device's local Wi-Fi network, and unfortunately, Apple doesn't allow apps to permanently whitelist this connection. However, you can prevent that frustrating "Use Mobile Data" or "Keep Trying Wi-Fi" pop-up by going into your iPhone’s Settings > Cellular, scrolling all the way to the bottom, and disabling Wi-Fi Assist. This stops iOS from aggressively trying to dump the PowerShot's Wi-Fi connection just because it doesn't have internet access, allowing the phone to stay quietly connected to the PX without triggering those cellular fallback warnings every time.

Thank you for your detailed reply!

It amazes me Apple doesn't allow a whitelist or an AppStore approved app, already connected via Bluetooth, to join without a prompt, but I guess that's Apple...

Wi-Fi Assist is already off on my phone, so that doesn't disable the "Use Mobile Data" or "Keep Trying Wi-Fi" pop-up for me.
