EOS 40D Computer only shows a few pictures

I am using a Canon 40D EOS and is having issues trying to download some pictures onto my HP computer. On my camera all the pictures are showing up, meanwhile the computer is only showing a few pictures.

I suggest you get a card reader.

Are the other images raws?

Have you used software that may make the camera think that you have already imported some of the images?

Do you see all of the pictures you think you have in preview mode on the camera?
