I have a Canon EOS 4000d and the firmware version is 1.0.1 I want to update it do I use the latest version? does it matter which version I use?

You only *need* to upgrade if you are having some issue with the camera, and the upgrade will fix it. For rebels, they don't add features.

If you want to upgrade the firmware, use the latest version. It incorporates everything from previous versions.
