The CD version of the software you got with the camera is obsolete.  I suggest you go to the Canon support website and download the latest version from there.

The best  commercial editing software for you is Photoshop Elements. There are some free editing softwares you can try available on the ole inner web.  They are all about the same so just pick one.

Probably the best choice is the free from Canon DPP4. I just d/l the newest version of DPP4. Been using it and I must say it is very good. I recommend it.

If you want to try free, web-based software for editing that is very similar to Photoshop, try photopea.com.  It is an open-source program, and I have been impressed by its features and low footprint.
