I have a canon r50 and i usually transfer photos on the camera connect app but recently i was shooting a hockey game and the photos showed up on the camera but on the app the date showed the day before and non of the new photos showed up.

A few thoughts come to mind.
Check and set the time: Connect your camera and the app. In the app, go to Camera settings and find the Date/Time Settings. Set the correct current date and time.
Check your Auto Transfer settings (if used). If a time and date discrepancy existed the auto transfer function will keep new photos from displaying.
Check there isn't a filter set keeping images from the date and question from displaying. Go to the app's image gallery and use the date filter to find the earlier date or whatever date the camera's timestamp was set to. This could allow the photos to appear.
