Canon 5dm3, EOS utility - remote live view - cannot turn off auto exposure.

Canon 5dm3. Hooked to PC running EOS utility - remote control - live view. EOS utility insists on auto-exposure even though camera is set to manual and ISO is NOT on auto.

Hi mannfilm!

Thanks for posting.

I would like to ask a some questions to get a better understanding of the issue and what may be causing it.

  1. When looking at the remote shooting window, does the letter M appear indicating manual exposure is set?
  2. What exposure values are changing?
  3. Do you have Exposure Simulation enabled?
  4. Does the resulting image appear different from the image you see in the window?

If this is a time sensitive-matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.

Thank you mike.  the solution was in exposure simulation.

Select "Live view / movie function set."

LV func setting: "enable"

Expsore simulation: enable - BUT NOT "enable (dof)"

For some reason enable (dof) turns on auto exposure, you'd think it would be dept of feild.

Thanks again
