What's the holdup on the new LP-E6P batteries?

So Canon did REAL good with the release of the R5MKII.  The new batteries for it......not so much.  I would have thought since they were able to get plenty of camera bodies out there to retailers they would have done the same thing with the LP-E6P batteries.  So here's the question that retailers can't answer at the moment.....When will these batteries be available?????

Canon don't actually make batteries, those are done by another supplier.  I am sure there are some memos going back and forth between the two right now.  At least the battery supply is sufficient to actually power the bodies being shipped.

Great point Trevor.  However, I was hoping Canon would give us an update on the status of the batteries and when we might expect them.

I would think that is a good idea.  However, this is a site supported by volunteer users, so you would be best posing that question to your local Canon contact or store.  I would doubt that any opinion we might have is going to be more than speculation - which will not help you.
