Hello annabcamp,

You can use the Wireless Remote Control BR-E1 for remote shooting. This is a wireless bluetooth enabled remote. You can find more information on this setup in the camera user's guide on page 247. I have also included a link to our webpage for the remote HERE for more information as well. You can also use a smartphone to control remote shooting from the camera. You would need to download our Canon Camera Connect app to your smartphone for this method. More information on this method of shooting can be found on starting on page 183 in the camera user's guide. You can find the camera user's guide HERE.

Great. Thank you for the information.

I have the shutter release cord for the PowerShot SX70 HS, but it only enables you to take a standard exposure photo, and does not act like a traditional "shutter release cable" where you could keep the exposure open as long as you wanted. I was interested in taking night time photos of the northern lights, and need to be able to take photos with exposures as long as 30 seconds, and have the ISO setting NOT default to 100 on such exposures. Is there any way these features can be incorporated into an updated firmware release for the Powershot SX70 HS?
