I have an unusual question…I am disabled with severe nerve damage in my fingers, hands, feet & toes as the result of a flu shot from 12 years ago. I do my best to continue shooting and my focus is sports, but I am unable to feel the shutter button on the camera body. I really struggled shooting the first several years , but finally came up with the idea of using a remote shutter release which I put in my mouth and use my teeth to release the shutter. There are several issues with this setup..the biggest is the moisture from my saliva that gets in the shutter release and eventually damages it beyond use. The other issue is the wired remote cable. Most college sports venues require credentials that hang from your neck on a lanyard and many venues now require a vest. Between the venue credential, my eye glass holder, the vest and remote cable I often end up a tangled mess. Is there a WIRELESS remote that works with the 1DX Mark II infrared ( doesn’t work when the remote is on the back side of the camera body. I’m also searching for a waterproof case that would fit over the remote itself. I currently place a thick zip-lock type bag over the remote and use gaffers tape over the plastic to prevent me from chewing a hole in the plastic. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
On a slightly different subject, I am looking for a good deal on a long lens for shooting sports…I have a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 which I have dropped 2 or 3 times. I also have a 150-600 Sigma which I have dropped three times. The first time I was able to have it repaired, the second time the zoom got stuck at 400mm, the last time the lens stopped working completely. My dream is a Canon 400 f/2.8…a guy can dream!
