Phottix Taimi Digital Timer and Remote

I have purchased the above named remote and find it does not seem to function with either my T7i or my 6D. The flash will fire but the shutter does not activate. Any suggestions?

What are your shooting conditions?

Does the camera function properly if you press the shutter button instead?

Is the flash you are seeing possibly the focus assist and the shutter isn't firing because the camera can't achieve focus?

It is probably the focus assist firing. If I press the shutter button it will take a photo.
