How to attach camera strap to EOS 6D with a heavy EF 70-200mm lens

I have a heavy 70-200mm f/2.8 attached to my 6D camera. I want to attach the camera strap in such a way so as to be comfortable, but to take the weight of the lens off of the camera lens mount. Therefore, would it be preferable to attach both ends of the strap to the foot of the lens collar? Or one of the ends to the foot of the lens collar & the other end to the camera body? I would appreciate your thoughts if this is something you have sorted out. Thank you so much.

Personally I prefer the basic Black Rapid strap for single point contact. I've used it on the lens collar with the exact same 6D & EF 70-200mm f/2.8 combo while shooting sports jobs. Comfortable, and very secure.

But for body only straps with reasonable weight lenses I much prefer the Peak Design Slide strap (worn over the shoulder, not the neck). It's the most comfortable I've ever used.

I use a US-made Op/Tech strap (they also make the CPS strap), and a SmallRig or OpTech wrist strap when on the go "just in case".  Then I stow my camera in a CamelBack Cloud Walker 18 (old version - dunno if this would work with the newer one) to hike and take the weight off the camera mount.  Of course it also serves for hydration, snacks, phone, etc.

If I were buying now I'd opt for the Black Rapid but the Op/Tech has worked well for me at a much lower price point, although it required some modifications to do so.  The modifications is why I'd go for Black Rapid if I had to do it over.

Thank you for the replies. Last week I had the opportunity to spend some time with the lens on the Oregon coast. In the past I used a Lemur sling strap with lighter lenses. The strap is a rather traditional sling type with a "sticky" shoulder pad & loops that allow the camera ot be raised & lowered effortlessly. But rather than considering the recommendations to my original post, I decided to see if the Lemur strap would work with the new lens. And it did. Attaching the strap to both the bottom of the camera body & the lens foot, carrying the camera/lens was both comfortable & kepteverything close to my body. So far, all is good.
